Former Crosby High School Graduate Receives Leadership Award from Hobby Center for Public Policy

Houston TX— University of Houston Hobby Center for Public Policy has awarded Alexander W. Obregon the first Leadership Award during the 2014 Fall Luncheon at UH’s Moores Opera House on Thursday, September 4, 2014. The award is given to honor a previous Hobby Center intern that has demonstrated leadership in government and public service.

Obregon participated in the Hobby Center for Public Policy’s Civic Houston Internship Program in 2008 as an intern for then-Houston City Council Member Ronald C. Green. The program offers undergraduate students the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in public service through internships with elected officials at the municipal, county, state or federal levels.

“I am both honored and humbled to receive the Leadership Award from the Hobby Center,” says Obregon. “Much of my success is directly attributable to my participation in the program as an undergraduate student.”

The luncheon featured The Honorable Beverly Kaufman, former-Texas Lt. Governor William P. Hobby, and Quorum Report Editor Harvey Kornberg.

Alexander Obregon is the Special Projects Coordinator in the office of Houston City Controller Ronald C. Green. He is a 2004 graduate of Crosby High School and holds of Bachelor of Science in psychology and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Houston. Obregon also serves on the Board of Directors of Skills 4 Living, Inc. and serves as an Advisory Council Member to the FDIC’s Alliance for Economic Inclusion Houston Region.
