PThe Conficker C-worm has been slithering through cyberspace since last November. A new release on April 1 could mean big problems for your computer. The sneaky Conficker worm has already found its way into over 10 million computers across the world, and many users don’t even know they have it…/P
PThe worm exploits a security gap in Microsoft Windows. Despite the fact a patch was put out last fall, if your computer was already infected, the Conficker would have blocked the fix and other antivirus updates. /P
PWhat will happen April 1 is still a mystery, but many analysts believe infected computers could be turned over to hackers./P
PConficker may also block sites used to fight it, like Microsoft.com or Symmantic.com. If you suspect you have the worm, you need to get a removal tool which is available for free from Symantic.com or Microsoft.com, or if you cant get to those websites, from the Conficker working site, you can also download those free tools to remove the worm from your computer./P
PThe Conficker Working Group site is an alliance of security companies looking to fight the worm./P
PExperts also warn that the worm can spread through USB devices and even digital photo frames. Microsoft announced Tuesday they are offering a 250,000 dollar reward for information regarding those who developed the worm. /P/FONT
