Gunfire Near HISD School Injures Three Students

PThree students, shot Friday afternoon, are recovering in hospitals.  The gunman is still on the loose. The two shootings happened just minutes after school was dismissed. According to the school district, a 17 – year old boy was leaving Barbara Jordon High School just after four Friday.  He walked across the street to meet his uncle, who was waiting to pick him up when bullets went flying. Metro police say both the teen and his uncle were hit.  Just moments later, shots rang out about a block away from the school at the Kashmere Transit Center on Hirch and Kelley.  BR     BRThe district says two teens, a 15-year old girl from Kashmere High School and a 17-year old girl from Jordon, were shot. It is not known at this point if the shootings are related. Metro says that transit center is usually packed with kids. /P
PThe girls are in stable condition. We also believe the injuries to the young man are also non life-threatening.  He’s at LBJ the girls at Ben Taub, says Metro’s President George Smalley.BRBRMetro says one of the girls may have been shot in the face the other in the leg.  It is not known at this time what the motive behind these shootings was. Police are still searching for the person or people responsible.  At this point all we know is they fled in a gray Dodge Durango.  /P
